Passive Occupant Detection System Belt Latch

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)





CAUTION!
Observe:

• Airbag safety precautions.

• Safety precautions for working with pyrotechnic belt tensioners, refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Belt Tensioners Safety Precautions ] Technician Safety Information

• Seat belt inspection, refer to => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] Seat Belts, Inspecting.

- Remove seat:

• Standard seat: vehicles from November 2004 => [ Standard Front Seat ] Standard Front Seat, From November 2004.

• Electric seat: vehicles from November 2004 => [ Power Front Memory Seat ] Power Front Memory Seats, From November 2004.

Removing

• The passenger occupant detection system safety belt latch is only installed on the passenger seat.

CAUTION!
Replace the passenger occupant detection system safety belt latch each time the passenger belt tensioner deploys.

Removing

- Disconnect connector - 1 - under seat.





- If present, remove cable from clip - 2 - equipment versions.

- Remove the bolt - 3 -.

- Remove safety belt latch - 4 -.

Installing

CAUTION!
Replace the passenger occupant detection system safety belt latch each time the passenger belt tensioner deploys.

Observe:

• Seat belt inspection, refer to => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] Seat Belts, Inspecting.

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.

- Replace the bolt on the safety belt latch.

• If the passenger occupant detection system safety belt latch is replaced, fill out the system registration sheet with the serial number and bar code label from the new safety belt latch and send it to the importer.

Tightening Specifications
