Steering Column Trim
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• TORX screwdriver T8 (T 40056)
Removing
- Remove the driver airbag unit:
• => [ Driver Airbag Unit, Standard Steering Wheel ] Driver Airbag, Servicing
• => [ Driver Airbag Unit, Sport Steering Wheel ] Driver Airbag, Servicing
• => [ Driver Airbag Unit, Multifunction Steering Wheel ] Driver Airbag, Servicing
• => [ Driver Airbag Unit, RS 4 ] Driver Airbag, Servicing
- Remove the steering wheel.
- Pull steering column all the way out and down.
- Remove TORX bolts - 3 - and - 5 - with TORX Screwdriver (T 40056) as well as hex socket head bolt - 4 -.
Tightening specification: 1 Nm
- Disconnect upper steering column switch trim - 2 - from lower trim - 1 - and remove both parts.
Installing
To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:
- When installing, guide upper trim into lower trim hooks, press both parts together and bolt.
