D-Pillar Trim
D-Pillar Trim, Removing and Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1783
- Torque wrench V.A.G 1410
CAUTION: Note safety precautions for working on airbags and side curtain airbags.
NOTE: Replace self-locking screws.
1 - D-pillar trim
Removal:
- Remove roof panel trim.
- Remove bolt - 3 - by sliding covering plate in eyelets to the rear.
- Release only the rear edge of luggage compartment side trim.
- Unclip D-pillar trim - 1 - from top downward.
- Remove D-pillar trim upward out of luggage compartment side trim.
- Remove D-pillar trim to the rear from trim - 4 - above rear door.
- Remove bolts for head-level airbag in rear area.
- Remove bolts - 6 -.
- Remove trim - 5 - above rear side window.
Installing:
- Installation is reverse of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
- Secure head-level airbag with new bolts.
- Slide D-pillar trim into mount for cover - 4 - above rear doors.
- Slide D-pillar trim behind luggage compartment side trim.
- Insert trim - 1 - into mounts using spring clips - 2 -.
- Rear lid rubber must be laid over D-pillar trim.
CAUTION: Ensure trim is held securely.
2 - Spring clamp
3 - Screw
- Tightening torque 9 Nm
- To loosen and tighten, push covering plate in eyelet to the rear
4 - Cover over rear door
5 - Cover over rear side window
6 - Screws, (2x)
- Tightening torque 3.5 Nm
Partition grille lifting eyes, loosening
- Press covering plate - 1 - in partition grill eyelet - 2 - to the rear and remove the bolt lying behind it.
