Flange Shaft Oil Seals
• Oil seals can only be replaced when transmission is removed.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Puller (T10037)
• Drift (VW 295)
• Driver (T40108)
• Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)
Removing
- Observe general repair notes => [ General Repair Information ] Rear Final Drive 0AR (02XA,0A3A,09EA,09LA Transmission).
- Remove rear final drive => [ Rear Final Drive ] Rear Final Drive.
Remove right drive flange
- Place drip tray underneath.
- Thread puller (T10037) tightly to housing - arrow - and pull out flange shaft.
Remove left drive flange
- Place drip tray underneath.
- Thread puller (T10037) tightly to housing - arrow - and pull out flange shaft.
- Pry out sealing ring with suitable lever.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Installing right oil seal
- Coat outer edge of gasket with axle oil.
- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).
- Drive in new seal to stop, without canting seal.
Installing left oil seal
- Coat outer edge of gasket with axle oil.
- Fill area between sealing lip and dust lip halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).
- Drive in new seal to stop, without canting seal.
Install right and left flange shafts
- Drive in flange shaft using centering mandrel ( VW 295).
- Install rear final drive => [ Installing rear final drive
- Audi A4 and Cabriolet, Audi A6 ] Rear Final Drive.
- Axle oil in rear final drive, checking => [ Rear Final Drive Axle Oil, Checking ] Rear Final Drive 0AR (02XA,0A3A,09EA,09LA Transmission).
