Steering Column Switches






Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

T8 Screwdriver (T40056 A)

Removing

Steering must be in center position (wheels in straight ahead position) when removing and installing coil connector with slip ring.

- Lower steering wheel as far as possible to rear, making use of the full range of the steering column adjuster.

- Remove airbag unit.

- Remove steering wheel.

- Remove bolts - 3 - and - 5 - using T8 screwdriver (T40056 A).





- Remove the inner hex bolt - 4 -.

- Separate top trim - 2 - for steering column switches from bottom trim - 1 - and remove both parts.

- Disconnect upper electrical harness connector at return spring with slip ring.





- Carefully release fasteners - arrows - and pull Airbag Spiral Spring/Return Spring With Slip Ring - 1 - off steering column switch module.

Steering column switch module has been removed in illustration.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Make sure all fasteners and electrical connectors are properly engaged.

- Insert top trim piece for steering column switch into catches of bottom trim piece, press together and bolt.

- Install steering wheel.

- Install airbag unit.
