Transmission Mount: Service and Repair

Transmission Mount

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A)

Removing





- If installed, loosen quick-release fasteners - 3 - and remove rear sound insulation - B -.

- Disconnect exhaust system at clamps - arrows -.





- Use engine and transmission jack (VAG 1383 A) to lift transmission up slightly. Insert a wooden block - 1 - between transmission and transmission jack.





- Remove bolts - 3 - and then bolts - 2 - at tunnel crossmember.





- Lower transmission slightly.

- Remove two nuts - 1 - and push tunnel crossmember backward slightly.

- Remove transmission mount bolts - arrows -.





Installing





Installation is in reverse sequence. Note the following:

- Secure transmission mount to transmission - arrows - (tightening specification: 23 Nm).

- Install the tunnel crossmember onto transmission mount, and install nuts - arrows -.





- Lift transmission far enough to be able to install in bolts - 2 -.





- Tighten bolts - 2 - and then bolts - 1 -.

• Replace bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Install exhaust system.
