Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900 Assembly Overview

Grease quantities and grease types for tripod driveshaft:

Greasing CV joint 98 dia. using Grease (G 000 633 ).

Greasing triple roller joint using Grease (G 000 605 ).

Regrease joint when replacing CV boot.










1 Bolt

• Always replace after removal

Tightening specification M16 bolt:

• 190 Nm plus an additional 180° turn

Observe assembly notes when removing, refer to => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle

Observe assembly notes when installing => [ Install drive axle ] Drive Axle

2 CV boot for outer constant velocity (CV) joint

• Check for tears and scuffing

• Greasing

• Before tightening hose clamp, briefly raise CV boot to allow pressure to equalize => [ Venting CV boot ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

• Different versions in rubber or Hytrel

3 Clamp

• Different versions for CV boot in rubber or Hytrel

• Replace

• Tensioning => [ Tightening hose clamp on outer joint ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

4 Drive axle (tube shaft)

• Before installing outer or inner joint, splines on shaft must be greased.

5 Clamp

• Replace

• Tensioning => [ Tightening hose clamp on outer joint ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

6 Joint piece

7 Socket head bolt

• M 10 x 20: 70 Nm

8 Triple roller star

Chamfer - arrow - faces splines drive axle splines

• Installed position => [ Mounting triple roller star ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Disassembling and Assembling

• When installing triple roller star on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint.

9 Securing ring

• Always replace

• Insert in shaft groove

10 Sealing ring

Sealing must be replaced; new seal is part of the repair kit.

11 Cover

• Always replace

Destroyed during disassembly.

A modified cover is included in the repair kit.

12 Clamp

• Always replace

• Tensioning => [ Tightening clamp on inner joint ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Disassembling and Assembling

• Different hose clamps are possible depending on construction. Also mountable using Pliers (3340).

13 CV boot for triple roller joint

• Greasing

14 Clamp

• Always replace

• Tensioning => [ Tightening hose clamp on outer joint ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

15 Dished washer

• Installed position => [ Installed position of spacer ring and dished
washer (wheel side) ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

16 Spacer ring (plastic)

• Installed position => [ Installed position of spacer ring and dished
washer (wheel side) ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

17 Securing ring

• Always replace

• Insert before mounting in ring groove (not visible with joint installed)

18 Outer constant velocity joint

• Replace only as complete unit

• Pressing off => [ Pressing off outer CV joint ] Triple Roller Joint AAR 2900, Outer CV Joint, Replacing

• Installing:

• Drive joint onto shaft with a plastic hammer until circlip engages.

• Greasing

• When installing joint on axle shaft, splines on axle shaft must be lightly coated with grease used in joint.
