Triple Roller Joint AAR 2000, Disassembling

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Sleeve (VW 426)

Thrust Plate (VW 401)

Thrust Plate (VW 402)

Assembly Tool (T10065)

Punch (VW 408 A)

Pressure Spindle (3207)

Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Cv Joint Boot Clamp Tool (V.A.G 1682)

- Driveshaft, clamping in vise

Use protective vise covers!

- Open clamp on joint and slide back protective boot.

- Bend open metal tabs with flat-head screwdriver and pry off cover.





- Mark installation position of parts 1 to 3 with dashes.





If they are not marked and are not re-installed in their previously installed positions, noises may occur later during driving operation.

A water-proof felt pen is well-suited for marking.

1 Joint piece
2 Triple roller star
3 Driveshaft

- Take O-ring - arrow - out of groove.

- Secure joint piece and remove axle shaft from vise.

- Remove circlip from triple roller joint/driveshaft.





1 Circlip pliers (commercially-available)

- If protective boot is damaged, remove, e.g. with shears. Otherwise, carefully turn back.

- Insert axle shaft in vise.

- Secure axle shaft then press off triple roller star from axle shaft.





Make sure that roller bodies are free when pressing off.

- Remove triple roller star with rollers and set aside on a clean surface.

- Remove joint from driveshaft.

- Pull joint protective boot off from driveshaft.

- Clean drive axle, joint piece and groove for oil seal.
