Selector Lever Cable Adjusting
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Socket and key (T40031)
- Remove the cover for the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Cover ] Shift Mechanism Cover.
- Place the selector lever in the "D" position.
- Loosen the rear clamping screw on the selector lever cable through the hole in the shift mechanism approximately one turn using the socket and key (T40031).
• Loosen the clamping screw only approximately 1 turn. Do not remove.
• The clamping screw is only accessible in selector lever position " D".
• The selector lever must remain in the "D" position while the clamping screw is loose.
- Carefully move the selector lever lightly toward the front and rear without shifting into another lever position, this releases the tension on selector lever cable.
- Check the exact position of the selector lever in the "D" position by pushing the selector lever lightly towards the driver's seat - arrow A -.
• Do not touch the selector lever during the adjustment.
- Without touching the selector lever, tighten the clamping screw in this position using the socket and key (T40031).
- Install the cover for the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Cover ] Shift Mechanism Cover.
- Check the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Checking ] Shift Mechanism Checking.
• Using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051 A), the position of the multi-function Transmission Range (TR) switch (F125) can be compared to the position on the selector lever via On Board Diagnostic (OBD), 02 - Transmission electronics, 08 - Read measured value block, display group 2 in display field - 1 -.
If the shift mechanism does not function properly after adjusting:
- Perform the selector lever cable basic setting. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Basic Setting ] Procedures.
