Locking lever (through VIN 8E_6A156499), removing and installing - 01J, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)





1 - Locking cable

Removing

Note:
^ Do not kink locking cable.

CAUTION!
Observe procedures for disconnecting battery.

- Disconnect Ground (GND) wire at battery.
- Remove storage compartment on drivers side.
- Remove steering column trim.
- Remove A/C system operating unit.
- Remove ashtray in center console.
- Remove cover for shift mechanism.
- Turn ignition key into driving position ("ignition on").
- Place selector lever in position "P".
- Lift retaining clip - 2 - from interlock lever and pull locking cable - 1 - out of ignition/starter switch.
- Lift securing spring - 4 - for locking cable and pull locking cable support bracket - 5 - on shift mechanism sideways and disengage locking cable eye.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

- Route locking cable kink-free behind instrument panel strut - arrow -.
- Turn ignition key into driving position ("ignition on").
- Insert locking cable - 1 - into ignition/starter switch.
- Check interlock lever - 2 -.
- Bring ignition/starter switch into locking position ("ignition off").
- Check whether selector lever is in position "P".
- Engage locking cable eye into pin - 3 -.
- Lift securing spring - 4 - slightly.
- Slide locking cable support bracket - 5 - from right into shift mechanism until securing spring - 4 - engages.
- Adjust locking cable.
- Observe procedures for connecting battery.
