Transmission Mount, Transmission Support and Tunnel Cross Member, Removing and Installing



Transmission mount, transmission support and tunnel cross member, removing and installing - 01J, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Engine/Transmission Jack V.A.G 1383 A
^ Wooden block

Removing





- Loosen quick-release screws - 2 - and - 3 - and remove rear noise insulation.





Note:
^ Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10 degrees, otherwise it may be damaged.

- Disconnect exhaust system at both double clamps - arrows -.





- Place plunger of Engine/Transmission Jack V.A.G 1383 A with a block of wood inserted in between - 1 - on transmission at bottom.
- Raise transmission slightly using Engine/Transmission Jack V.A.G 1383 A.





- First remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -, then bolts - 3 - and - 4 -.





- Remove nuts - arrows - and slide tunnel cross member slightly toward rear.





- Remove bolts - 2 - and remove transmission mount - 1 - from transmission.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal.

Torque specifications





Transmission mount - 1 - to transmission

^ Bolts M8 - 2 -, tightening torque: 23 Nm





Transmission mount to tunnel cross member

^ Nuts M8 - arrows -, tightening torque: 23 Nm





Tunnel cross member to chassis

^ Always replace bolts M12 - 3 - and - 4 -, tightening torque: 110 Nm plus an additional 90 degrees (corresponds to one-quarter turn)
^ Bolts M10 - 1 - and - 2 -, tightening torque: 65 Nm

- Align exhaust system so it is free of tension.
