Bearings D, E and G, Checking for Wear - 01J, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
2 - Bearing "D"
^ Disc set roller bearing "I"
^ Different versions: with or without inner race
^ Checking
3 - Bearing "E"
^ Disc set ball bearing "I"

^ With bearing "G" (roller bearing with disc set "II")
^ Bearing "G", Checking
^ Bearing "G" Running Surface, Checking
Checking bearing "D" (roller bearing for disc set "I")
Note:
^ There are two versions of bearing "D": without bearing inner race or with bearing inner race.
- Check bearing "D" - 1 - (in the illustration, version without inner race) for damage:
^ The roller bearing must not have any surface damage.
^ The bearing cage must not have any cracks or breaks.
- To see if there is any damage on the roller bearings, run your finger nail over the entire running surface.
^ Very light wear grooves and damage cannot be detected to the finger touch.
^ If wear grooves or damage is detected, the bearing "D" must be replaced.
- Also check the running surface on the disc set "I".
Checking bearing "E" (ball bearing for disc set "I")
- Check bearing "E" - 1 - for damage.
^ The balls and running surfaces must not have any damage or chips.
^ The ball bearing must not run "smoothly" when spinning.
- Also check running surface on the disc set "I".
Checking bearing "G" (roller bearing for disc set "II")
- Check bearing "G" - 1 - for damage.
^ The roller bearing must not have any surface damage.
^ The bearing cage must not have any cracks or breaks.
- To see if there is any damage on the roller bearings, run your finger nail over the entire running surface.
^ Very light wear grooves and damage cannot be detected to the finger by touch.
^ If bearing "G" is damaged, then the transmission must be replaced.
- Also check running surface on bearing "G" on the disc set "II"
