See Caution before beginning repairs on the electrical system => [ Battery ] Battery

- Note and if necessary, determine radio code for vehicles equipped with coded anti-theft radio / radio navigation system only foreign brands).

- Switch ignition off and disconnect battery Ground (GND) strap => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery.

• Steps after reconnecting voltage supply => Battery.

Starter, 4-Cylinder

Removing

- For vehicles with auxiliary heater, remove bolts - arrows - for exhaust pipe of stationary heater/auxiliary heater on noise insulation.





- Remove bolts or quick release screws - 1 - and - 2 - and remove front noise insulation.





- Unscrew line for terminal B+ - 2 -.





- Unplug connector for terminal 50 - 1 -.

- If installed, remove insulator at positive connection on starter.

- Unbolt clamp - 4 -.

- Unbolt bracket for starter on cylinder block - 3 - and on starter.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Remove the starter from below.

Installing

Installation is reverse of removal, paying attention to the following:

- Connect battery. Required steps => Battery.

Tightening Specifications





Starter, 6-Cylinder

Removing

- Remove front right wheel.

- Remove generator => [ Generator, 6-Cylinder ] Generator.

- Remove heat shield for right drive shaft - arrows -.





- Disconnect cable for terminal B+ - 2 -.





- Disconnect connector for terminal 50 - 1 -.

- Remove heat shield - 3 - from solenoid switch.

- Remove starter mounting bolts - arrows -, detach starter.

Installing

Installation is reverse of removal, paying attention to the following:

- Install generator, observe instructions for connecting battery.
