Plenum Chamber E-Box
Removing
• All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Remove plenum chamber cover rubber seal in - direction of arrow -.
- Remove plenum chamber cover - 1 - forward.
- Remove the wiper arms - 2 -- 3 and 4 -. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.
CAUTION!
To prevent the cowl grille - 5 - from cracking when removing, coat the transition between the windshield and cowl grille with some soapy water and carefully pull the cowl panel trim vertically out of the retainer on the windshield beginning at the edge of the window.
- Remove securing clips - 1 - and remove cowl panel grille - 5 -.
- Remove plenum chamber E-box cover - arrows -.
- Pry securing bracket off - arrows - with the help of a screwdriver.
Engine control module with the protective housing:
- Loosen connector catches - arrows - and disconnect engine control module connectors - 1 - and - 2 -.
Engine control module with protective housing:
- Remove the engine control module with protective housing.
All:
- If present, unclip Transmission Control Module (TCM) retaining bracket.
- Unlock the connector - arrow - and disconnect it from the transmission control module.
- If present, cut through cable tie.
- Remove the rear connector - 2 - on the connector strip.
- Remove electrical wiring harness - 1 -.
- Release catches - arrows - and remove secondary relay carrier in E-Box toward top.
- Disengage engine wiring harness to E-box and bulkhead and free up.
- Remove the nuts - arrows -.
- Lift E-Box and remove upward.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
• All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.
