Belt Latch, Standard, Memory and Recaro Seats

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)





CAUTION!

• Seat belt inspection. Refer to => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] Seat Belts, Inspecting.

- Remove seat:

• Standard seat: vehicles from November 2004 => [ Standard Front Seat ] Standard Front Seat, From November 2004.

• Electric seat: vehicles from November 2004 => [ Power Front Memory Seat ] Power Front Memory Seats, From November 2004.

• Recaro Seat, from November 2004 => [ Seat ] Recaro Front Seats, From November 2004

• There are 2 versions of the safety belt latch. Both versions are described in the following. Determine which version the vehicle has and performed the corresponding activities.

Version 1

Removing

- Remove the bolt - 2 - for safety belt latch - 1 -.





Vehicles with Seatbelt Fasten Sensor and Switch in Safety Belt Latch (Driver's Side Only, for Certain Countries):

- Remove cable from red connector housing.

- Using a screwdriver, pry out retaining hooks - 4 - on red connector housing - 1 -.





- Press red connector housing - 1 - back.

- Cable pin - 6 - (Qty. 2) for belt fasten sensor.

- Red connector housing - 1 - for belt fasten sensor and main voltage supply.





- Release cable retainer - 2 - in direction of arrow by prying out at cut-out - 3 -.

The illustration shows the released cable retainer - 2 -.

- Remove cable - 4 - for belt fasten sensor from sockets 5 and 6 and on the driver's side (in certain countries), the cable - 4 - for the switch in safety belt latch socket 1 and 2 as well.

- Open cable ties.

Installing

• Seat belt inspection, refer to => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] Seat Belts, Inspecting.

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order.

- Replace the bolt on the safety belt latch.

Tightening Specifications





Version 2

CAUTION!
Observe:

• Seat belt inspection, refer to => [ Seat Belts, Inspecting ] Seat Belts, Inspecting.

Removing

- If present, disconnect connector - 1 - under seat equipment versions.





- If present, remove cable from clip - 2 - equipment versions.

- Remove the bolt - 3 -.

- Remove safety belt latch - 4 -.

Installing
