Crankshaft Gear/Sprocket: Service and Repair
Chain sprocket, removing and installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Press tube 30 - 100
^ Thrust piece 40 - 105
^ Two-arm puller, commercially available
^ Protective gloves
Removing
- Remove oil pan with oil pump.
- Remove front sealing flange.
- Pull off crankshaft chain sprocket with claw puller -2- e.g. Kukko 44 - 1, while protecting end of crankshaft with thrust piece 40 - 105.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
CAUTION:
Wear protective gloves!
- Heat up chain sprocket in an oven for approx. 15 minutes at 220 degrees C.
Note:
^ Installed location: Wider shoulder of chain sprocket faces toward engine.
- Using pliers, install chain sprocket on crankshaft end and slide onto crankshaft to stop using press tube 30 - 100.
- Install oil pan with oil pump.
