Brake Master Cylinder With Brake Booster






Brake Master Cylinder with Brake Booster

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Release tool (T40024)

Sealing plug repair kit (1H0 698 311 A)

Removing

- Remove the glove compartment on driver's side. Refer to

- Rotate the brake light switch - 1 - 45 degrees to left and remove.





- Use release tool (T40024) to separate the brake pedal from the brake booster.





Extracting brake fluid using brake filler/bleeder unit (VAS 5234)

- Remove the plenum chamber cover.

- Lay out sufficient lint free cloths in the area of the plenum chamber.





- Open the brake fluid reservoir.

- Extract the brake fluid.





- Disconnect the connector from the float warning indicator sensor - 1 -.





- Disconnect the vacuum hose - 2 -.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - for the brake fluid reservoir.





Protect the plenum chamber against any leaking brake fluid.

The underside of the brake fluid reservoir clips into the brake master cylinder.

- To remove the reservoir, press the locking tab down and at the same time, remove the brake fluid reservoir from the sealing plugs.

- Remove the brake fluid reservoir and lay it to one side.

- Disconnect the brake lines - 1 - and - 2 - and seal with sealing plugs from sealing plug repair kit (1H0 698 311 A).





- Lay out sufficient lint free cloths in the area of the hydraulic control unit.

- Disconnect the brake lines - 1 - and - 2 - and remove together with the rubber grommet.





- Remove the brake booster bolts - 1 - ( (T45 ) Torx).





- Remove the brake booster with brake master cylinder.

On vehicles installed with a cross brace the cross brace must be removed.

- Removing and installing cross brace. Refer to => Steering and Suspension Steering and Suspension

- Remove the nuts for the brake master cylinder - 1 -.





- Carefully remove the brake master cylinder from the brake booster.

Installing

When installing, note the following points:

Clean any residual brake fluid off the plenum chamber before installing the brake master cylinder.

When assembling the brake master cylinder with the brake booster unit, make sure the push rod is properly positioned in the brake master cylinder.

- Adjust the brake light switch.

- Bleed the brake system. Refer to => [ Brake System Bleeding ] Brake System Bleeding.
