Brake Caliper Assembly Overview, C41 and C43

Rear wheel brakes with automatic adjustment

Install all parts supplied in the repair kit.

After replacing the brake pads, depress the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

To extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir, use a bleeder bottle that only comes into contact with brake fluid. Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth using a hose!





1 - Self-locking hex bolt, 35 Nm

Always replace.

Counter hold guide pin when loosening and tightening.

2 - Brake caliper housing

Remove before replacing the brake pads.

Do not twist the hose when installing.

Do not disconnect the brake hose when changing brake pads.

3 - Brake pads

Always replace both sides.

Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Pads, C41, C43, RS4 model 8EC, C43 ] .

Check pad thickness.

4 - Brake pad retaining spring

Always replace when changing pads.

5 - Wheel bolts

Removing and installing the wheels. Refer to => Steering and Suspension Steering and Suspension

6 - Torx bolt

Tightening specification: 5 Nm

7 - Brake rotor

Always replace both sides.

Remove the brake caliper prior to removing.

Lubricate the contact surfaces between the brake disc and the wheel hub with polycarbamide grease (G 052 142 A2).

Make sure there is sufficient wear limit.

Allocation, refer to => [ Rear Brake Specifications ] Rear Brake Specifications.

Thickness, refer to => [ Rear Brake Specifications ] Rear Brake Specifications.

8 - Bolts, 75 Nm

M10 x 60

Always replace.

9 - Brake carrier with guide pins and protective caps

Replacement carriers are supplied assembled and with sufficient grease on the guide pins

If the protective caps or guide pins are damaged, replace them using the repair kit. Use the grease packet supplied to lubricate the guide pins.

10 - Banjo bolt, 45 Nm

11 - Brake hose with banjo union

Do not twist the hose when installing.

Remove the caliper from the brake carrier to replace the brake pads.

Do not twist the hose when installing.

Do not disconnect the brake hose when changing the brake pads.
