Brake Pads, Brembo

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Piston resetting tool (T10145)

Removing

If reusing the brake pads, mark the location. Install in same position when installing otherwise uneven braking will occur!

- Remove the wheels and tires.

- Secure the brake disc with a wheel bolt.





- Disconnect the connector - 1 - for the brake pad wear indicator.





- Lift the fixing latch somewhat on the lower part of the connector - 2 - and turn 90 degrees.

- Pull the lower part of the connector from the holder.

- Drive out the brake pad retaining pins - arrows -.





- Remove the retaining springs - arrows -.





Before pressing the piston back, extract some brake fluid from the reservoir using a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

- Press the brake pads away from the brake rotor and then remove from the brake caliper housing.

Installing

Before inserting new brake pads, press the piston back into the cylinder using the piston resetting tool. Before pressing the piston back, extract some brake fluid from the reservoir with a bleeder bottle. Otherwise fluid will overflow and cause damage if the reservoir was topped off during repair work.

- Press the piston back into the caliper housing.

- Insert the brake pads in the brake caliper housing.

Brake pads are directional and specific to each vehicle side. Observe markings on dampening sheet.

- Install the retaining springs - arrows -.





- Press the retaining springs into position and drive the brake pad retaining pins in to the stop.

- Insert the brake wear indicator connector and wire - arrow - into the bracket on the brake caliper.





- Connect the brake wear indicator connector.

Install the wheels and tires.

After replacing the brake pads, depress the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

After changing brake pads check the brake fluid level.
