^ An implausible RPM signal is being received by the TCM over the RPM lead. The cause could be, for example, engine RPM too high or false RPM readings caused by interference from the ignition system. The substitute engine RPM signal is then transmitted by the ECM over the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus circuit to the TCM.
