Component Overview





1 - ABS Control Module (J104 )

• Location: on hydraulic unit in right of engine compartment

• Do not disconnect connector before successfully completing On Board Diagnostic (OBD). Switch ignition off before separating connector.

• Removing and installing => [ ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] ABS Control Module and ABS Hydraulic Unit

• ABS/ESP system ITT Mark 60 => [ ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] Electronic Brake Control Module

• ABS system ITT Mark 70 => [ ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] ABS Control Module and ABS Hydraulic Unit

2 - ABS hydraulic unit (N55)

• Location: on the hydraulic unit in right of engine compartment

• The ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64) , ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55) and ABS Control Module (J104) comprise the hydraulic control unit

• With integrated sensor - 1 - for Brake Pressure Sensor 1 (G201)

• Removing and installing => [ ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] Electronic Brake Control Module

• ABS/ESP system ITT Mark 60 => [ ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] Electronic Brake Control Module

• ABS system ITT Mark 70 => [ ABS Control Module and Hydraulic Unit ] Electronic Brake Control Module

3 - ASR/ESP Button (E256)

• Location: In center console

4 - ESP-Sensor unit (G419)

• Location: Under front passenger seat

• Combined in one housing

• Combined sensor for Transverse Acceleration Sensor (G200) and Rotation Rate Sensor (G202)

• On all-wheel drive vehicles, also Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor (G251)

• ESP sensor unit, removing and installing => [ Electronic Stabilization Program Sensor Unit ] Service and Repair

5 - ASR/ESP Control Lamp (K155 )

• Location: In instrument cluster

6 - Brake pad wear indicator light (K32)

• Brake pad worn

• Location: In instrument cluster

7 - Brake System Warning Lamp ( K118)

• Location: In instrument cluster

• Brake malfunction, parking brake engaged

• Check brake fluid if blinking

8 - ABS Warning Lamp (K47)

• Location: In instrument cluster

9 - Parking Brake Warning Light Switch (F9)

• Location: On parking brake lever

10 - Right/Left Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor - (G44)/ (G46)-

• Removing and installing => [ Speed Sensor ] Service and Repair

11 - Wheel bearing/hub unit

• The ABS sensor ring/rotor is installed in wheel bearing

12 - Wheel bearing housing

• Removing and installing:

=> Suspension, Wheels and Steering 42 Removal and Installation

13 - Steering Angle Sensor ( G85)

• Location: Coil ring with slip ring on steering column switch

• Removing and installing => [ Steering Angle Sensor ] Service and Repair

14 - Data Link Connector (DLC)

• Location: cover in driver footwell

15 - Brake Light Switch (F)

• Removing and installing => [ Brake Light Switch ] Service and Repair

16 - Right/Left Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G45)/ (G47)

• Removing and installing => [ Speed Sensor ] Service and Repair

17 - Brake master cylinder

• Removing and installing => [ Brake Master Cylinder ] Brake Master Cylinder

18 - Wheel bearing/hub unit

• The ABS sensor ring/rotor is installed in the wheel bearing

19 - Wheel bearing housing

20 - Brake Fluid Level Warning Switch (F34)
