Shift Mechanism, Through VIN 8E_6A156499, Removing and Installing
Shift mechanism, through VIN 8E_6A156499, removing and installing - 01J, Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT)
Removing
- Remove selector lever handle.
- Open ashtray in center console and remove trim panel -arrows-.
- Remove air conditioning operating unit.
- Remove ashtray in center console.
- Release all 4 clips -arrows- and pull cover -1- with guide upwards to remove.
- Disconnect connector from side of guide plate.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector on Shift Lock Solenoid N110.
- Disengage locking cable -arrows-.
- Loosen quick-release screws -2- and -3- and remove rear noise insulation.
Vehicles with 4-cyl. engine:
- Remove vehicle floor plates at inside left -2- and inside right -1-.
- Remove rear cross member for vehicle floor, to do so remove bolts - 1 through 4 -.
All:
- Remove bolts - 1 to 6 - to remove front cross member for vehicle floor.
Note:
^ Depicted in illustration for a vehicle with 4-cyl. engine.
Note:
^ Flex joint in front exhaust pipe must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it may be damaged.
- Disconnect exhaust system at double clamp -arrows-.
Note:
^ Depicted in illustration for a vehicle with 4-cyl. engine.
- Remove heat shield below shift mechanism.
- Remove lower cover from shift mechanism -arrows-.
- Detach selector lever cable sleeve from shift mechanism bottom cover and slide back.
- Remove retaining clip -1- for selector lever cable on shift mechanism downward.
- Pull plastic securing spring -2- slightly to front and push pin -3- upward only as far as necessary -arrow-.
- Remove selector lever cable -4- from shift mechanism.
Note:
^ Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.
- Remove nuts -arrows-.
Note:
^ A second technician is required when detaching shift mechanism below vehicle.
- Press holder clips -1- and -2- inward, at the same time pushing shift mechanism downward.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Install selector lever cable.
- Install locking cable.
- Adjust locking cable.
- Install exhaust system and align it free of tension.
- Check shift mechanism.
