01J Transmission






Shift Mechanism

Securing the spring for the locking cable, removing and installing. Refer to => [ Retaining Spring for Locking Cable, Removing
and Installing ]

Disassembling





6 - Selector lever

- Place the selector lever in the "D" position.

- Remove the shift lock solenoid - 7 -. Refer to => [ Shift Lock Solenoid ] Shift Lock Solenoid.

- Unclip the selector lever guide - 12 -.

- Release the pivot pins - 5 - and - 19 - and pull them out from side.

- Unclip the retaining brackets - 2 - and - 16 -.

- Pull off the retaining clip - 17 -.

- Swing the locking lever - 11 - fully upwards.

- Pull the selector lever - 6 - with bushings - 3 - and - 15 - as well as the Tiptronic locking levers - 4 - and - 18 - downward out of the shift unit - 14 -.

Assembling





6 - Selector lever

- Check whether the selector lever is in the "D" position.

- Swing the locking lever - 11 - fully upwards.

- Insert the selector lever - 6 - from below into the shift unit - 14 -.

- Connect the locking levers for the Tiptronic - 4 - and - 18 - as well as bushings - 3 - and - 15 - on the selector lever.

- Press the selector lever - 6 - with bushes into the shift unit and position it with retaining clip - 17 -.

- Engage the retaining brackets - 2 - and - 16 - on the shift unit.

- Push the pivot pins - 5 - and - 19 - into the selector lever - 6 - until they engage.

- Check whether the mounting pins in the Tiptronic locking lever engage.

- Install the shift lock solenoid - 7 -. Refer to => [ Shift Lock Solenoid ] Shift Lock Solenoid.

- Clip in the selector lever guide - 12 -.

Retaining Spring for Locking Cable, Removing and Installing





Removing

- To remove the locking cable, slightly lift the spring at the top - arrow B -.

- Unhook the spring at the retaining tab - arrow C - and remove toward the top.

Installing

- Insert the spring - arrow B - from the top and hook in at the retaining clip - arrow C -.

- Align the spring so that it is seated evenly in the groove - arrow A -.
