Transmission Mount: Service and Repair
Transmission mount, removing and installing - Vehicles with 4-cylinder Engine, 02M/02Y, 5 & 6 Speed M/T, AWD
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Engine support bridge 10-222 A
^ Shackle 10-222 A /12
Removing
- Remove left front cover - arrows -.
CAUTION! Observe safety precautions with disconnecting battery.
- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery Ground (GND) wire.
- Remove air guide hose from Throttle Valve Control Module J338, to do so remove hose clamp - 4 -.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector at Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor G70 - item 1 -.
- Disconnect hose - 5 - from air filter housing if installed.
- Remove bolts - 2 - and - 3 -.
- Remove air filter housing.
- Remove battery and battery holder - arrows -.
- Place Engine Support Bridge 10-222 A with Bracket for Engine 10-222 A/1 on upper edge of web plate - arrows -.
- Pretension engine/transmission assembly somewhat using spindle.
- Remove bolts - 2 -.
Note: Disregard - item 1 -.
- Remove all parts to gain access to bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove transmission mount - A -.
Installing
Installation is performed in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install transmission mount - A - using new bolts.
- Lift transmission up to transmission support using engine support bridge spindle.
CAUTION! Before screwing bolts - arrows - , make sure that transmission support - 1 - and transmission mount support jig - 2 - are absolutely parallel so thread will not be damaged. Lift transmission at rear using floor jack, if necessary.
- Bolt transmission mount support jig - 2 - to transmission support - 1 - using bolts - arrows -.
CAUTION! Only remove engine support bridge 10-222 A when bolts for left and right subframe mounts are tightened to tightening torque.
- Install battery and battery holder, observe safety precautions after connecting battery.
- Install air filter housing.
