O-rings for cover / rear axle housing (final drive installed), replacing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1331/

Removing:
- Drain gear oil.
- Remove left/right flanged shaft.





- Pull breather - arrow - off rear axle housing.

Note: Illustration shows final drive removed.

- Remove right cover/left cover, thread in bolts - A - uniformly while doing so, so that cover is not canted.
- Remove right cover together with differential.





- Then remove O-ring - A -.
