Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair

Parking Brake Cable, AWD, Removing and Installing

Removing





- Remove switch mount with storage compartment -1-and cover for rear center console -2-.
- Release parking brake.





- Loosen adjustment nut - arrow - until the parking brake cable can be unhooked from the compensator.





- Pry off clip -1- for parking brake cable.
- Press brake lever -2- in direction of arrow and unhook brake cable -3-.





- Remove rubber grommet - arrow A - in trailing arm.
- Unhook parking brake cable - arrow - from retainer and pull out of trailing arm in direction of - arrow -.





- Pull parking brake cable out from guide tube -1- in direction of - arrow -.

Installing

Install in reverse sequence; note the following points:

- Slide parking brake cable into guide tube.





- Press brake lever -2- in direction of - arrow - and attach parking brake cable.
- Open clip -1- securing parking brake cable.





- Install rubber grommet - arrow A - in trailing arm.
- Hook parking brake cable in retainer - arrow -.
- Hook parking brake cable into compensator.





- Pretighten parking brake cable with adjustment nut - arrow -.
- Adjust parking brake.
