Rear Window, Removing

NOTE: Always wear protective goggles and leather gloves when removing a window.

- Remove tailgate trim.
- Pull off or unscrew connections for heated rear window and rear window antenna.
- Press connections against window glass toward center of vehicle.
- Detach third brake light.







- Pierce adhesive bead using trimming needle - 1 - with handle - 2 -.
- Trimming needle should be kept as close as possible to window when cutting bead.
- Unscrew handle and insert cutting wire into eye of needle.







- Feed cutting wire into winding device - 1 - and secure.
- Lay cutting wire around rear window under trim strip as shown.
- Pull end of cutting wire through adhesive bead toward the inside in the same way, and secure with tailgate hinge securing bolts.







- Unscrew hexagon bolt - arrow - and use it to secure end of cutting wire.
- Tighten bolt to 21 Nm after removing window.







- Cut out first part of window glass.







- Move winding device to next position as shown and attach relay pulley in lower corner of window.
- Route cutting wire as shown.
- Cut out window glass up to the point where thread no longer runs in relay pulley.







- Remove relay pulley and continue to cut out window glass.







- Move winding device to next position as shown and attach relay pulley in upper corner of window.
- Route cutting wire as shown.
- Cut out window glass up to the point where thread no longer runs in relay pulley.







- Remove relay pulley and continue to cut out window glass.
- Now repeat these steps in the top right and bottom right corners of the window.
- Cut out the window glass completely according to these steps.
- Remove window from window opening using double suction cups.
