Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair



Shift lock solenoid, removing and installing, 09G, 6 Speed A/T

Removing
- Check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain anti-theft code.
- Shift selector lever into position "R".
- With ignition switched off disconnect battery Ground strap.





- Open cover of storage compartment - 4 - slightly.
- Pry switch console - 1 - off upward and disconnect connectors - 2 -.
- Press retaining tabs - 3 - forward carefully and remove storage compartment - 4 - upward.





- Disconnect connector (arrow) from Shift lock solenoid - N110-.

Note: The illustration shows the shift mechanism with the center console removed for ease of illustration.

- Move selector lever to position "P".
- Raise vehicle.





- Disconnect front exhaust pipe -A-.
- Remove cross-piece -B- underneath exhaust system.
- Remove protective plates -C- and -D-.





- Unscrew 4 nuts (arrows -A-).
- Unscrew two bolts (arrows -B-).
- Carefully push cover with protective sleeve forward over selector lever cable.

Note: Take care not to damage the protective sleeve.





- Unclip Shift lock solenoid - N110 - from bracket (arrows -A-).
- Remove solenoid from locking pawl (arrow -B-).
- Remove Shift lock solenoid - N110 - from below.

Installing
Installation is in reverse order. Note the following:

The tightening torques of bolts/nuts and information on whether new bolts/nuts must be installed can be found at (Removing and installing shift mechanism) and (Disassembling and assembling shift mechanism).





- Engage solenoid in locking pawl (arrow -B-).
- Clip Shift lock solenoid - N110 - in bracket (arrows -A-).
- Screw cover with bonded-on gasket to mounting bracket.
- Note gasket installation.





- Tighten nuts (arrows -A-).
- Then tighten two bolts (arrows -B-).
- Assemble exhaust system:
- Reconnect Ground strap to battery.
- Check shift mechanism.
- Enter radio code.
