EVAP Canister Purge Solenoid Valve 2, Checking

- V.A.G 1526 portable multimeter or V.A.G 1715 multimeter
- Adapter set V. A. G 1594
- Wiring diagram
Test Conditions
- Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve 2 -N115-fuse OK
- Ignition switched off
- Hand brake is engaged
Vehicles with Front Wheel Drive
- Remove EVAP canister cover at bottom of spare wheel well - arrows -.
Vehicles with All Wheel Drive
- Disconnect the exhaust system at the clamping sleeve - arrows -.
- Remove right rear bracket for exhaust system.
- Disengage rear part of exhaust system on brackets.
NOTE: Exhaust system decoupling element cannot be kinked more than 10 degrees damage could result.
- Unscrew rear heat shield and exhaust system bracket - arrows -.
- Unscrew EVAP canister cover rear nut - arrow -.
- Fold cover for EVAP canister down at rear edge.
All Vehicles
- Disconnect electrical connector - arrow -.
NOTE: Shown in illustration on a vehicle with front wheel drive.
- Connect multimeter to valve for resistance measurement.
- Specification: 22 to 26 Ohms
If specified value is not obtained:
- Replace Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Solenoid Valve 2 N115,.
- Erase DTC memory of ECM. Diagnostic Mode 04 - Erase DTC Memory
- Generate readiness code. Generate Readiness Code
If the specification is obtained:
- Connect test box to control module wiring harness, Test Box, Connecting For Wiring Test connect test box for wiring test.
- Check wire between test box socket 116+terminal 2 of 2-pin connector for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
- Also check the wire for short circuit to B+ and Ground (GND).
Specification: Infinite Ohms
- Check wire between 2-pin connector terminal 1 and the Fuel Pump (FP) Relay -J17- for open circuit according to wiring diagram.
Wiring resistance: max. 1.5 Ohms
If no fault is detected in the wiring:
- Replace Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) -J220-.
