Interior - Radio Cover Won't Open/Close Properly

Radio cover may not open or close correctly.

Service
Install repair kit (Part No. 8N0 098 459), as follows:
Figure 1:
1. Remove radio flap. See Repair Manual >> Body Interior, Repair Group 68.
Figure 2:
2. Remove side frame from the cover.
Figure 3:
3. Remove pivot pin and guide arm (Figure 3).
Figure 4:
4. Install guide arm, pivot pin and guide pin (Figure 4).
Figure 5:
5. Apply lubricant (Part No: G 060 172 A3) liberally to locations shown on side frame in Figure 5.
On right side of cover
Figure 6:
6. Position spring on square boss as shown (Figure 6, white arrow).
7. Make sure spring ends are as shown (Figure 6, black arrows).
Figure 7:
8. Install side frame in cover.
Side frames are marked "L" for left side and "R" for right side.
Figure 8:
9. Position spring coil (Figure 8, white arrow) behind side frame anchor (Figure 8, black arrow).
Figure 9:
10. Position spring end (Figure 9) on side frame as shown.
Figure 10:
11. Using needle nosed pliers, carefully pull spring in direction shown (Figure 10, white arrow) enough to clip spring on anchor (Figure 10, black arrow).
Figure 11:
12. Position spring (Figure 11, white arrow) behind side frame anchor (Figure 11, black arrow).
Figure 12:
13. Secure spring to side frame (Figure 12).
Figure 13:
14. Position guide pin in side frame channel (Figure 13).
15. Repeat procedure for opposite side, with exception of pivot arm assembly (only for right side).
Figure 14:
On left side of cover
16. Position spring on square boss as shown in Figure 14 (Figure 14, white arrow).
17. Make sure spring ends are as shown (Figure 14, black arrows).
18. Reinstall radio flap into opening.
