Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 64 number 08-08 dated December 2, 2008 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
Condition
When opening or closing the convertible top, all four windows are lowered at the same time. After the top cycle is complete, all four windows are returned to a fully upright position. In some cases, one or both of the front windows do not return to their fully upright position. This happens most often to the left front window. The window(s) are fully operational by their respective switches but do not fully close as a function of the top cycle.
Technical Background
Malfunction in the front door window regulator motor(s) in evaluating the window strategy from the convertible top control unit.
Affected windows can be closed by their respective window switches.
Production Solution
Improved window regulator motors with data version 045. Figure 2 shows where the data version can be located on the component label.
Service
It is imperative that the windows are in correct adjustment and that the one-touch (automatic open/close) feature is active. Improperly adjusted windows can cause the pinch protection to activate. Inactive one-touch operation could cause malfunctions that are outside the scope of the condition described in this TSB
Please check the window adjustments and adjust if necessary according to the specifications in ElsaWeb. These can be found in Cabriolet>>Body>>Body Exterior, Cabriolet>>Front door and Rear window regulator. It can also be found in ServiceNet>>Additional Information>>Other Topics>>A4 Cabriolet 8H Window Adjustment. If the window adjustments are as specified, the front door window regulator motors are initialized, and this condition persists, only replace the window regulator motor on the affected side.
