Front Cross-Member: Service and Repair

Tunnel Crossmember

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

- Remove noise insulation.

- Remove nuts - arrows -





- Support transmission with Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A) and a wooden block.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Remove tunnel crossmember

Installing

- Tighten combi-bolt - 1 - to 110 Nm plus an additional 90° turn.





Use new washer and bolt.

- Tighten combi-bolt - 2 - to 65 Nm.

- Tighten nuts - arrows - to 23 Nm.





- Install noise insulation.
