Shift mechanism (cables as of 07.2001), assembly overview, 02M/02Y, 5 & 6 Speed M/T, AWD
Note: Lubricate bearing areas and slide surfaces with polycarbamide grease G 052 142 A2.

^ When removing, do not damage cables
^ Replace
5 - Shift mechanism housing
6 - Hex bolt, 20 Nm

7 - Mounting bracket
8 - Grommet
^ Bearing for mounting bracket to transmission
9 - Spacer piece
10 - Nut, 20 Nm
11 - Cable locking mechanism
^ For selector cable on linkage lever
12 - Linkage lever
^ Installed position
13 - Bearing bushing
14 - Locking washer
^ Replace after removal
15 - Shoe
16 - Shift rod lever with balance weight
^ Insert so that master spline aligns with selector shaft
^ Installed position
17 - Hex nut, 23 Nm
^ Self-locking
^ Replace
18 - Cable locking mechanism
^ for shift cable on shift rod lever
Allocation cable locking mechanism
Holes in cable locking mechanisms have different diameters:
^ Cable locking mechanism for shift cable on shift rod lever: Dimension - a - = 10 mm.
^ Cable locking mechanism for selector lever cable on linkage lever: Dimension - a - = 8 mm.
