Shift mechanism, disassembling and assembling, 09G, 6 Speed A/T
Note: Lubricate mountings and sliding surfaces with polycarbamide grease, Part number G 052 142 A2.
1 - Handle for selector lever
2 - Sleeve
^ Engages in selector lever handle
^ Disables removal of selector lever handle

9 - Selector lever cable
^ Do not bend or kink
^ If protective sleeve is damaged, selector lever cable must be replaced
^ Do not lubricate cable eye and ball socket
10 - Locking plate
^ For selector lever cable at bearing cup
^ Always replace
11 - Self-locking nut, 10 Nm
^ For cover at mounting bracket
^ Qty. 4
^ Always replace

^ Installation position: Install clamp from above. Angled ends of clamp point toward steering lock

- Position printed circuit board with its holes on guides of frame (arrows).
- Clip wiring harness -A- into frame ensuring that printed circuit board does not become deformed.

- Carefully pry out retaining tabs (arrows) of lower part on upper part of frame in succession. If retaining tabs are damaged, lower section of frame must be replaced.
- Remove screen.

- Place screen - 2 - in lower section of frame - 3 -.
Solenoids (arrow -A-) and (arrow -B-) must be securely fixed on screen. If necessary replace screen.
Note: If the solenoid (arrow - A) is missing (or has fallen out) then the Tiptronic switch will not work.
- Carefully clip upper part of frame - 1 - into lower part of frame - 3 -.
