Routing of ribbed belt on vehicles with A/C system
Note: Engines with A/C compressor feature a double ribbed belt.
Removing ribbed belt
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Connecting rod support 3090
Note: Before removing ribbed belt, mark direction of rotation with chalk or felt pen. A used belt can break if it runs in the opposite direction. Make sure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys.
- Move tensioner in direction of arrow to release tension on ribbed belt.
- Remove ribbed belt.
Note: The tensioner can be locked with a 4.5 mm diameter drift (approx. 55 mm long) or with connecting rod support 3090.
Installing ribbed belt
Note: Make sure all components (generator, A/C compressor, power steering pump) are securely mounted before installing ribbed belt.
- Install ribbed belt.
