Low-mounted power steering pump, assembly overview





1 - Hex bolt, 25 Nm

2 - Ribbed belt tensioner
^ To release tension on the ribbed belt, swing open-end wrench

3 - Vibration damper
^ With pulley for ribbed belt
^ Can only be installed in one position

4 - Hex bolt, 25 Nm

5 - Generator

6 - Hex bolt, 25 Nm

7 - Bracket
^ Illustrated for vehicles without A/C system

8 - Socket head bolt, 45 Nm

9 - Hex bolt, 25 Nm

10 - Banjo bolt, 38 Nm
^ On vehicles with pressure switch

11 - Seal
^ Always replace

12 - Pressure line

13 - Seal
^ Always replace

14 - Power steering pump
^ Fill with fluid before installing
^ To facilitate positioning of power steering pump on bracket, knock back threaded bushings for retaining bolts slightly

15 - Belt pulley
^ For power steering pump

16 - Socket head bolt, 25 Nm

17 - Socket head bolt, 25 Nm

18 - Ribbed belt

Note: Engines with A/C compressor feature a double ribbed belt.

Removing ribbed belt

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Connecting rod support 3090

Note: Before removing ribbed belt, mark direction of rotation with chalk or felt pen. A used belt can break if it runs in the opposite direction. Make sure that the belt is properly seated in the pulleys.





- Move tensioner in direction of arrow to release tension on ribbed belt.
- Remove ribbed belt.





Note: The tensioner can be locked with a 4.5 mm diameter drift (approx. 55 mm long) or with connecting rod support 3090.

Installing ribbed belt

Note: Make sure all components (generator, A/C compressor, power steering pump) are securely mounted before installing ribbed belt.

- Install ribbed belt.
- Routing of ribbed belt on vehicles with no A/C system
- Routing of ribbed belt on vehicles with A/C system





- Loosen tensioner for ribbed belt. Remove drift or connecting rod support - 3090 - - arrows -.
- Start engine and check that belt runs properly.

Note: Engines with A/C compressor are equipped with a double ribbed belt.
