Battery - Vehicles With Energy Management Control Module, Testing With Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing And Information System VAS 5051B

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- e.g. Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B (or any of the VAS 505X class testers) with diagnostic cable

Prerequisites
- Battery must not be in process of being charged.
- Engine must not be running.
- Battery temperature must be at least -10 degrees C.
- Diagnostic system temperature must be between +5 and 45 degrees C.

Procedure
- Connect Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B.

NOTE: If an error message appears on the display, VAS 5051B operating instructions.

- Press Guided Functions button on operating mode selection screen.







Display:
- Enter vehicle identification number (VIN) in field - 1 - in selection - A -.

The Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051B then switches to the next selection level. The following example shows how vehicle type, engine and vehicle system of function could be selected (some steps may be skipped):

The following information is given as an example only. Always enter required information as it pertains to vehicle being serviced.







- Follow VAS 5051B instructions and prompts. Depending on results, the following will be displayed:
- Battery is OK.
- Charge battery.
- Replace battery.

After battery test:
- Tap button Go to.
- Select function "Exit".
- Where applicable, follow tester prompts regarding warranty requirements.
- Switch ignition off and disconnect tester from Data Link Connector (DLC).
- If necessary, charge battery.
- If necessary, replace battery.

NOTE: battery is replaced, follow disposal regulations.
