System Malfunctions Indicated Via Warning Lamps, ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP ITT Mark 20 IE
System malfunctions indicated via warning lamps, ABS/EDL/ASR/ESP ITT Mark 20 IE
K14 parking brake indicator light -3-
K47 ABS warning light -2-
K118 warning light for brake system -1-
K155 ESP control lamp -4-
Overview:
CAUTION! After indicator light for ABS -K47 and brake warning light -K118 light up, the electronic brake regulation (EBV) is no longer functional and the rear wheels can lock up (skid) under light braking.
ABS warning light -K47-
If the ABS warning light (-K47-) -2- does not go out after the ignition is turned on and the test sequence is complete, it could be caused by the following errors:
-a- voltage supply is below 10 volts
-b- there is an ABS malfunction
The ABS system is being switched off during an ABS malfunction -b-. The EBD function (Electronic Brake Distribution) is still active, ensuring that the traditional brake system is fully functional.
Check DTC Memory.
-c- there was a sporadic wheel speed sensor malfunction since the last vehicle start.
In the event of a sporadic wheel speed sensor malfunction -c-, the ABS warning lamp will go out automatically after vehicle is started again and a speed of 20 km/h has been exceeded.
-d- the wire from ABS control module (w/EDL) -J104- to instrument cluster combination processor -J218- for activating the ABS warning light -K47- has an open circuit (connection from blue harness connector T32, pin 19 of instrument cluster to pin 22 of control module).
-e- the instrument cluster is faulty.
ABS warning light -K47- and warning light for brake system -K118-
If the ABS warning light (-K47-) -2- goes out, but the warning light for brake system (-K118-) -1- remains lit and 3 warning signals are heard, the malfunction causes could include:
-a- brake fluid level is too low
-b- there is a malfunction in the activation of the warning light for brake system -K118- => wiring diagram If the ABS warning light (-K47) -2- and the warning light for brake system (-K118-) -1- both light up, ABS is faulty and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) has ceased functioning.
If the ABS warning light (-K47-) -2- and the parking brake indicator light (-K14-) -3- (on vehicles with navigation system) light up, and 3 warning signals are heard, both ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution) have ceased functioning.
NOTE: the parking brake indicator light (-K14-) -3- lights for this only after a speed of 10 km/h or an engine speed of 2000 RPM has been reached.
WARNING! When Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) fails, even light braking can cause rear wheels to lock.
ASR/ESP control lamp -K155-
If the ASR/ESP control lamp (-K155-) -4- does not go out after the ignition is turned on and the test sequence is complete, it could be caused by the following errors:
There is a malfunction that only affects the ASP/ESP system. The ABS/EDL and EBD safety systems are still completely functional.
Check DTC Memory.
a - the ASR/ESP system was switched of via the ASR/ESP button -E256-.
b - short circuit to B+ in the ASR/ESP button.
c - there is a short circuit to Ground (GND) for activation of the ASR/ESP warning lamp.
d - the wire for activating the ASR/ESP warning lamp has an open circuit
If the ASR/ESP control lamp -K155- lights up for 100 milliseconds after ignition is switched on, a code has been entered that does not include ASR/ESP regulation.
Code Control Module
If the ASR/ESP control lamp -K155- blinks while driving, the ASR or ESP is in regulating mode.
ABS warning light -K47-, ESP control lamp -K155- and warning light for brake system -K118-
If the ABS warning light (-K47-) -2- and the warning light for brake system (-K118-) -1- and the ESP control lamp (K155) -4- remain constantly lit, then the control module is not coded or the coding is 00000.
