Subframe Bushings, Removing and Installing



Subframe bushings, removing and installing





Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Assembly tool 3301
^ Tube 31.5 mm dia. VW418A
^ Screw T10030/3
^ Thrust piece T10030/4
^ Tube T10030/6

Removing
- First remove springs.
- Remove subframe complete with final drive.





- Set up special tools.
1 - Washer
- Remove bonded rubber bushing by turning spindle.

Installing
Bonded rubber bushings supplied as replacements parts are packed in a sealed plastic bag.
Do not use bonded rubber bushings which have been stored unsealed.





- Attach special tool to bonded rubber bushing.

1 - T10030/3 Spindle
2 - Washer with chamfer
3 - 10030/4 Thrust piece
^ Shoulder - arrow - faces toward bonded rubber bushing
4 - Bonded rubber bushing





- Lubricate bonded rubber bushing with liquid soap or similar.





- Bring bonded rubber bushing and special tool into position at subframe.
- Pull in bonded rubber bushing by turning spindle.

Note: The spindle must be inserted from below when removing and installing front bonded rubber bushings on subframe.

Installation is carried out in reverse sequence.
