Transfer case gear oil, checking and topping off, 09E, 6 Speed A/T

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Drip tray V.A.G 1306
^ Safety glasses

Test conditions
^ Gear oil temperature at approximately 20°C (room temperature).





Requirements
- To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a hoist or over a service pit.

Note: If lifting the vehicle on a hoist with wheels off the ground, the vehicle jack mode must be activated.

- Remove rear sound insulation panels, by removing bolts - 3 - and - 4 -.





- Place drip tray V.A.G 1306 under transmission.

CAUTION: Wear eye protection.

- Remove oil inspection and filler plug - C -.

Note: The oil inspection and filler plug - C - is located above the crossmember for the transmission and is therefore difficult to access.





If gear oil drips from the opening, oil level - arrow - in transfer case is OK.
- Top off gear oil, if necessary.

Note: Always replace oil inspection and filler plug.





- Install new oil inspection and filler plug - C -.
