Power Steering System, Checking for Leaks and Fluid Level
• With W12 engines, left upper part of air filter box must be removed in order to check the power steering fluid level.
• W12 gasoline engine, refer to => Suspension, Wheels,
Steering 48 Removal and Installation
• Cold Fluid
- With engine not running, move front wheels in straight-ahead position.
• Warm Fluid, 122° F (50° C) or Higher
- With engine running, bring front wheels to straight position.
- Remove cap - arrow - with oil dipstick.
- Clean dipstick with clean cloth.
- Screw cap on hand-tight and remove again.
- Check fluid level:
• Cold Fluid
Fluid level must be in area of MIN. mark (up to 2 mm above or below mark)
• Warm Fluid, 122° F (50° C) or Higher
Check fluid level. It must be between MIN. and MAX. markings.
• Screw cap fully in to get an accurate fluid level reading.
• If oil level is above specified range, oil must be extracted off.
CAUTION!
If the fluid level is below the specified level, check the power steering system for leaks. It is not sufficient just to add fluid.
- If no leaks are detected, top off with power steering fluid "G 002 000".
- Screw in cap hand tight.
