Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair
Vibration Damper
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Counter-holder tool (T10069)
Removing
- Bring lock carrier into service position => [ Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position ] Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position.
- Carefully pull engine cover at the rear and middle upward and off - arrows 1 -.
- Then, pull the engine cover forward and off from intake manifold - arrows 2 -.
• Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed direction of rotation can cause damage to the belt under operating conditions.
- To relieve tension on the ribbed belt, pivot the tensioner in direction of - arrow -, using a 30 mm box-end wrench.
- Remove ribbed belt and release tensioning device.
- Loosen center bolt - 1 - of the vibration damper, thereby holding the vibration damper with the counter-holder (T10069).
- Remove vibration damper.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
- Use a new center bolt to fasten.
• There must be no oil on the contact surfaces between the vibration damper and crankshaft.
• Also, do not oil center bolt for vibration damper.
- Install ribbed belt => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.
- Install lock carrier with attachments
- Install front bumper cover.
- Deactivate vehicle lifting mode.
Tightening Specifications
* Replace screw.
* 90° corresponds to one quarter rotation.
