Auxiliary Cooler






Auxiliary Cooler

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drip tray for workshop crane (VAS 6208) or drip tray (V.A.G 1306)

Hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1921)

Removing

The following removal and installation procedure is for the right auxiliary cooler. The left auxiliary cooler is removed and installed in the same manner.

- Remove front bumper cover.

- Remove cover above coolant reservoir - arrows -.





CAUTION!
Cover cap of expansion tank with rag and open carefully, as hot steam i.e. hot coolant may escape when opening.

- Open cap of coolant expansion tank.

- Disconnect harness connector - 2 - and free up the wiring.





- Remove bolts - 1 -.

- Detach air duct for auxiliary cooler.

- Place drip tray for workshop crane (VAS 6208) or drip tray (V.A.G 1306) under engine.





- Disconnect front coolant hose from auxiliary cooler - arrow - and drain coolant.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Disconnect coolant hoses - arrows -.





- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove auxiliary cooler.

Installing

- Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

- Install front bumper cover.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.
