Radio System

Radio, Standard and BOSE Sound Systems, through MY 05

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Fiber optic plier repair set (VAS 6223)

• Protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9)

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051)

- Switch off all electrical consumers.

- Remove the key.

- If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine using the (VAS 5051)

Removing

- Remove the left luggage compartment trim panel.

Vehicles with Digital Radio (DAB) (R147) and Digital TV Tuner (R171)

- First remove digital TV tuner. Refer to => [ Digital TV Tuner, with Digital Radio (DAB) ] TV System.

All Vehicles

- Remove the parking aid control module (J446) - 1 -.





- Disconnect all harness connectors on radio (R) - 2 -.

- Attach the (VAS 6223/9) - 1 - onto the MOST-Bus connector - 2 -.





- Remove nuts - 3 - (3 Nm).





- Pull radio - 2 - off the threaded pin - 3 - and pull retaining lugs on rear side of radio - arrows - out of retaining plate.

- Remove speech input control module (J507). Refer to => [ Speech Input Control Module, through 29 August 2008 ] Speech Control System.

Installing

- Install in reverse order.
