Seat Belt Tensioner: Testing and Inspection



Checking Belt Holding Sensor For Rear Three-point Seatbelt With Belt Tensioner

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required







- Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A
- Connect Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A and select vehicle system "15. Airbag". Ignition must be switched on for this.
- Read measuring value block display group 004.







Belt webbing is fully retracted, Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A display indicates -No-.
Belt tongue is engaged in buckle and belt webbing is extended by dimension -L-, Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A display indicates -Yes-.

- Pull belt webbing out to stop. While belt is being extended, Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A display must continue to display -Yes-.
- Extend belt to dimension -L-, without unlocking belt tongue. Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A display must continue to indicate -Yes-.
- Unlock belt tongue and slowly retract belt webbing, at the latest by 100 mm extension, display must change from -Yes- to -No-.

Belt webbing is fully retracted, Diagnostic Operating System VAS 5051 A display indicates -No-.

Dimension - L:
- Dimension -L- is 250 mm for left and right seatbelts installed in sedans. The horizontal belt adjustment is centered.
- Dimension -L- is 220 mm for left and right seatbelts installed in Avants. The horizontal belt adjustment is centered.
- Dimension -L- is 500 mm for center seatbelts installed in sedans and Avants.
