Brake system vacuum pump V192, checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
Vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051:
^ Diagnosis lead VAS5051/1 or diagnosis lead VAS5051/3
Procedure
- With ignition switched off, connect vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS5051 to diagnostic connection with diagnosis lead VAS 5051/1 or diagnosis lead VAS 5051/3.
- Switch on tester - arrow -.
The tester may need up to 3 minutes before it is ready for operation.
- Switch on ignition.
- Select mode: Press button on display for Vehicle self-diagnosis.
- Select vehicle system: Press button for 01 - Engine electronics.
The control module identification and coding will appear at top right of display.
- Select diagnosis function (all diagnosis functions are available at this stage).
- Select 04 - Basic setting on display.
- Press buttons 0, 0 and 8.
- Confirm entry with Q key.

Firmly depress brake pedal several times in succession until test is activated.

Do not press brake pedal again once test has been activated.
The Brake System Vacuum Pump V192 supplies vacuum to brake booster. The diagnosis of the brake booster system runs in the control module at the same time.
The system passes the test if the pressure in the brake booster reaches the shut-off threshold within time limit set by diagnostic function.
The following information will appear at bottom of display:
- You can cancel or exit from this mode by pressing Go to button.
The system fails the test if pressure in brake booster does not reach shut-off threshold within time limit set by diagnostic function.
