Steering Column Switch Module (SCSM), Removing And Installing

Removing
- Remove driver-side storage compartment:
- Remove airbag unit and steering wheel:
- Completely pull out steering wheel with the adjustment mechanism and move (adjust) downward.







- Remove Torx bolts -3- and -5- as well as the hex socket bolt -4-.
- Separate top trim -2- for steering column switches from bottom trim -1- and remove both parts.
- Fold upper trim to instrument cluster and remove lower trim.

To install, insert top trim piece into catches of bottom trim piece, press together and bolt.

NOTE: Wheels must be in straight-ahead position when removing or installing return ring with slip ring.







- Disconnect harness connector -1-.
- Carefully release catch -arrows- and pull return ring with slip ring from steering column switch module (SCSM).







- Remove bolt -1-.
- Disengage electrical wire for induction coil at steering column switch -arrows
- Disconnect electrical harness connector -2-.
- Carefully pull off steering column switch together with Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module.

Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, paying attention to the following:
- Make sure that all 3 catches as well as the harness connector are engaged cleanly.
- Connect battery. Required steps.
- Zero the Steering Angle Sensor -G85-.

Do this using vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system VAS 5051.
