Rear Wheel Speed Sensor, FWD, Removing and Installing



Speed sensor on rear axle, removing and installing

Removing
- Loosen wheel bolts.
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove wheel.
- Switch off ignition.





- Remove hex bolt - 2 -.
- Remove speed sensor - 1 - from wheel bearing housing.
- Loosen Torx bolt - 3 - and remove cable bracket.





- Remove hex bolt - 1 -.
- Loosen Torx bolt - 2 - and pull out cable bracket.





- Unclip speed sensor wiring from retainers.





- Detach underside cover - arrows -.
- Lift rear seat out of locking device.
- On Convertible vehicles, also remove side trim.





- Release cable bracket, disconnect speed sensor connector - 1 - and press out grommet (left and right sides are the same).

Installing
Installation is in reverse sequence.
- Before installing, lubricate speed sensor seal all around with lubricating paste G 000 650.

Checking rotor on rear axle
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove wheel.
- Remove speed sensor from wheel bearing housing.
- Inspect rotor for signs of damage or dirt.

Removing and installing rotor on rear axle

Removing
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove wheel.
- Remove brake caliper
- Hang brake caliper on body.
- Check that rotor is not damaged or dirty.
- If rotor is damaged, remove and replace wheel hub together with rotor.

Installing

Installation is in reverse sequence.
- Route speed sensor wire back in original position.
- Before installing, lubricate speed sensor seal all around with lubricating paste G 000 650.
