Condition
After opening the convertible top, the convertible top box cover doesn't fully close. The cover stops about 10 - 20 cm before fully closing after the top opening cycle is complete.
If the cover is manually pressed down and the opening cycle continued, the cover fully closes.
Technical Background
May be due to operation of the convertible top in temperatures lower than 0°C (32°F). At these temperatures or after installation of a new top cover, the folding flexibility is compromised and the convertible top doesn't efficiently store in its compartment. The lid then cannot close.
Production Solution
No change.
Service
Do not repair.
Note:
As specified in the owner's manual, the top should not be operated below 0°C (32°F). Please explain this issue to the customer. Because of the compromised flexibility of the soft top fabric at these temperatures, top operation is not recommended. Please explain this issue to your sales staff as well so that it can be conveyed to the customer at delivery.
