Readiness Code, Generating - II



Operation 7: Diagnosis of aging of oxygen sensor (O2S) before Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Enter "034" for "display group number 034" in field -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing -A- button.
- Press accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously, engine speed increases to approx. 2300 rpm

Test conditions:
- Accelerator and brake pedal pressed simultaneously, engine runs at approx. 2300 rpm.

- Check indication in display field -4-.


Display Group 034:






If specification "B1-P2 OK" is obtained:
- Press <- button.
- Perform next operation.

Operation 8: Diagnosis of oxygen sensor (O2S) condition after Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC).

Test conditions:
- Engine at idle

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Enter "036" for "display group number 036" in field -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing -A- button.
- Check indication in display field -2-.


Display Group 036:






If specification "B1-P2 OK" is obtained:
- Press <- button.
- Perform next operation.

Operation 9: Diagnosis of oxygen sensor control system after Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)

Test conditions:
- Engine at idle

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Enter "037" for "display group number 037" in field -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing -A- button.
- Check indication in display field -4-.


Display Group 037:






If specification "Syst. OK" is obtained:
- Press <- button.
- Perform next operation.

Operation 10: Diagnosis of oxygen sensor (O2S) aging after Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC)

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Enter "043" for "display group number 043" in field -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing -A- button.
- Press accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously, engine speed increases to approx. 2300 rpm.

Test conditions:
- Accelerator and brake pedal pressed simultaneously, engine runs at approx. 2300 rpm.

- Check indication in display field -4-.


Display Group 043:






If specification "B1-P2 OK" is obtained:
- Press <- button.
- Perform next operation.

Operation 11: Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) diagnosis

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Enter "046" for "display group number 046" in field -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing -A- button.
- Press accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously, engine speed increases to approx. 2000 rpm.

Test conditions:
- Accelerator and brake pedal pressed simultaneously, engine runs at approx. 2000 rpm.

- Check specifications in display fields -2- and -4-.
- Check indication in display fields -2- and -4-.


Display Group 046:






If specification "Cat. B1 OK" is obtained:
- Press <- button.
- Perform next operation.

Operation 12: Diagnosis of Activating Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator -N80-

Test conditions:
- Engine run at idle

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Enter "070" for "display group number 070" in field -2- and confirm entry by pressing -Q- button.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing -A- button.
- Check indication in display field -4-.


Display Group 070:






If specification "EVAP OK" is obtained:
- Press <- button.
- Perform next operation.


Operation 13: Diagnostic of tank seal

Observe:

- Engine running at idle:
- Intake air temperature less than 95 degree C (display group 4, display field 4)
- Coolant temperature less than 105 degree C (display group 4, display field 3)

Display on VAS 5051:







NOTE: It may be necessary to reselect the ECM with "address word" 01, and "Basic Setting" 04 after starting engine.

1 - Enter display group
- Select function "71" in button field -2- for "display group number 191" and press Q button to confirm input.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing button -A-.

NOTE: Duration of Tank seal tests is approximately 60 seconds.


Display Group 071:






NOTE:
- If during the test the value in display field 4 changes from "Test ON" to "Test OFF" and "Breakage" is displayed in display field 2, restart the "Tank Seal Diagnostic".
- When restarting the diagnostic, it may take up to 60 seconds for the value in display field 4 to change from "TEST OFF" to "TEST ON".

If specified values "Syst. OK" are obtained in display field 4:
- Press the C button
- Click on <- button
- Perform next work step.

Operation 14: Diagnostic of Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system

NOTE: During diagnostic of the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system, the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump will run for several seconds.

Test conditions:
- Press accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously, engine speed increases to approx. 2000 rpm.

Display on VAS 5051:







1 - Enter display group
- Select function "077" in button field -2- for "display group number 070" and press Q button to confirm input.

Display on VAS 5051:







- Activate basic setting by pressing button -A-.

NOTE: Duration of Tank seal tests is approximately 60 seconds.


Display Group 077:






NOTE:
- If during the test the value in display field 4 changes from "Test ON" to "Test OFF" and "Breakage"(for example, when leaving the rpm range) and it does not return to "Test ON", turn the ignition off and back on; restart the "Secondary Air Injection (AIR) system" diagnosis.

- When restarting the diagnostic, it may take up to 60 seconds for the value in display field 4 to change from "Test OFF" to "Test ON".

If specified values "Syst. OK" are obtained in display field 4:
- Press the C button

Operation 15: Read readiness code
- Read readiness code. Readiness Code, Function
