Rear Cross-Member Bushing: Service and Repair


Bonded rubber bushing for subframe, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment





- 3301 bearing
- VW 418 A tube, 31.5 mm diameter
- T10030/3 spindle
- T10030/4 pressure piece
- T10030/6 pipe

Removing
- First remove spring.
- Remove entire subframe and rear final drive together.
- Subframe, removing and installing; Refer to Cross-Member.





- Attach special tools.
1 - Washer
- Remove bonded rubber bushing by turning support arm bearing tool.

Installing
Bonded rubber bushings are provided as a replacement part in a sealed plastic bag.
Do not use bonded rubber bushings that were stored in the open.





- Assemble special tool and bonded rubber bushing
1 - T10030/3 Spindle
2 - Washer with chamfer
3 - 10030/4 pressure piece Collar (arrow) faces bonded rubber bushing
4 - Bonded rubber bushing - Coat bonded rubber bushing with lubricating soap, for example.
- Attach bonded rubber bushing and special tools to subframe.
- Install bonded rubber bushing by turning support arm bearing tool.

Notes: To remove and install the front bonded rubber bushing at subframe, spindle must be inserted from below.

Remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.
